About The Position

Potbelly is hiring friendly and outgoing Team Members to help customers enjoy lunch again. Team Members are a primary point of customer contact and provide fast, friendly, and efficient service while delivering quality, consistent products in a clean and inviting environment. The role involves helping open the shop, preparing food, serving customers, and contributing to an energetic team environment. Applicants must be available for some portion of the morning and day-shift window, 8 a.m.–4 p.m.; availability for the entire window is not required.

Requirements

• Be at least 16 years of age.
• Have a friendly, customer-first mindset and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, energetic environment.
• Have strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Be comfortable working in a bustling kitchen environment.
• Manage potential allergens, including peanut products, egg, dairy, gluten, soy, seafood, and shellfish.
• Be a team player.
• Be able to stand or walk for a minimum of three hours or as needed.
• Be able to lift up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Illinois employees must become food safety certified within 30 days of employment.

Nice To Haves

• Knife skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Work multiple stations, including load, dress, shakes, cash, prep, and front, as directed by a Shift Leader or Manager.
• Follow health and safety standards for food, cleanliness, and safety.
• Restock the food line, chips, and cooler.
• Efficiently prepare quality finished products, including sandwiches, salads, soups, cookies, and ice cream.
• Use the automatic slicer to prepare food items if 18 or older.
• Clean tables, counters, floors, bathrooms, the kitchen, and utensils, and take out trash.
• Operate the cash register, handle and balance cash, and follow cash-handling procedures.
• Effectively handle customer complaints and issues.
• Take delivery, catering, and pickup orders over the phone.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
