About The Position

Potbelly is hiring friendly, outgoing Team Members to help customers enjoy lunch again. As a primary point of customer contact, Team Members provide fast, friendly, and efficient service and deliver quality, consistent products in a clean and inviting environment. The role includes helping open the shop, preparing food, serving customers, and working across multiple stations. Morning and day-shift availability is needed within the 8 a.m.–4 p.m. window; availability for the entire window is not required.

Requirements

Be at least 16 years of age.
Have a friendly, customer-first mindset and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, energetic environment.
Have strong written and verbal communication skills.
Be comfortable working in a bustling kitchen environment.
Be able to manage potential allergens, including peanut products, egg, dairy, gluten, soy, seafood, and shellfish.
Be a team player.
Be able to stand or walk for a minimum of 3 hours or as needed.
Be able to lift up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Illinois employees must become food safety certified within 30 days of employment.

Nice To Haves

Knife skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

Work at multiple stations, including load, dress, shakes, cash, prep, and front, as directed by a Shift Leader or Manager.
Comply with food, cleanliness, and safety health standards.
Restock the food line, chips, and cooler.
Efficiently prepare quality sandwiches, salads, soups, cookies, ice cream, and other finished products.
Use the automatic slicer to prep food items if 18 or older.
Clean tables, counters, floors, bathrooms, kitchen areas, and utensils, and take out trash.
Operate the cash register and follow cash handling procedures, including handling and balancing cash.
Effectively handle customer complaints and issues.
Take delivery, catering, and pickup orders over the phone.
Perform other duties as assigned.
