About The Position

The Center for Disability Services is looking for a Day Program Counselor for our Without Walls program. This is a community-based experience where you will pick up our members from their residence in one of our vehicles and enjoy a day out. These activities include bowling, volunteering, shopping, and exploring other community events. This position has minimal supervision, so you must have the ability to work independently and feel comfortable working alone with people who have developmental disabilities. For over 80 years, the Center for Disability Services has served as a trusted community leader, providing innovative programs and services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities here in the Capital Region and North Country. We are committed to empowering individuals to lead full, independent lives, and have served over 12,000 people to date. Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent
NYS Driver's License in good standing
Must be at least 18 years old
Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.

Support and encourage independence in all aspects of daily life.
Collaborate with your team to plan, create and assist with activities and opportunities to meet the needs and interests of the people you support.
Provide any necessary direct personal care to the people we support.
