About The Position
Kids in Tech is seeking energetic, dependable Part-Time Afterschool Program Counselors to support hands-on STEM programs for elementary and middle school students. Program Counselors work alongside Kids in Tech program staff to create a safe, welcoming, and engaging learning environment where students can explore coding, robotics, engineering, technology, and other STEM activities. This is a great opportunity for high school students, college students, and others interested in education, youth development, STEM, or community service.
Requirements
- Dependable, responsible, positive, and enjoy working with young people.
- Strong communication skills.
- Willing to learn.
- Able to consistently report to their assigned program site.
- Reliable availability for their assigned program schedule.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience with children, tutoring, camps, afterschool programs, mentoring, or STEM is helpful but not required.
Responsibilities
- Support students during hands-on STEM activities and projects.
- Help with student engagement, behavior, transitions, and group activities.
- Assist with program setup, materials, technology, and cleanup.
- Encourage students to participate, collaborate, problem-solve, and try new things.
- Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive afterschool environment.
- Support attendance and other basic program documentation as assigned.
- Work collaboratively with Kids in Tech staff and follow program and school-site expectations.
- Participate in required orientation and training.
