About The Position

The Day Porter performs daily, on-site janitorial tasks at a designated customer facility or office. The role supports a clean and sanitary environment by cleaning surfaces and floors, restocking rooms, removing trash, and using germicides and other cleaning chemicals safely. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED, or one year of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small-group situations to customers, clients, and other employees.
• Ability to stand, walk, lift/climb, talk/hear, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands or arms.
• Ability to handle a weight or force requirement of up to 40 pounds.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Fill spray bottles with the germicide needed to clean and sterilize.
• Clean and stock each room and remove trash; replace trash can liners multiple times during the shift.
• Mop floors and/or vacuum carpets.
• Clean surfaces throughout the environment, including walls, desks, counters, equipment, and floors, as well as other areas upon request.
• Shampoo rugs and clean glass as required.
• Notify a supervisor about discrepancies in the environment’s condition, such as leaks, broken pipes, or cracks in walls or glass.
• Become familiar with cleaning chemical components and safety requirements.
• Perform other duties as defined by the supervisor.
• Maintain confidentiality.
