About The Position

As a Datacenter Facilities & Equipment Specialist II, you will engage in customer communication about ongoing and upcoming projects, perform device set-up, installs, or decommissions, including completing all necessary documentation and providing status and completion updates. You will also perform cabling tasks as needed, running both copper and fiber connections throughout the Datacenter. Additionally, as necessary, you will escort vendors and customers for required work and site visits. You will also perform troubleshooting tasks to remediate issues within the datacenter and provide timely and accurate updates on issues and resolution. This role involves providing onsite 24x7/365 rotation coverage and incident response for data center facilities services and data center equipment services. Expertise in modern datacenter facilities operations is required, including environmental controls, security, safety systems, power, backup power systems, and smart building decision systems. Support may include performing monthly maintenance on generators with training, conducting or overseeing work on datacenter infrastructure systems, performing facilities inspections of datacenter infrastructure systems, and cleaning areas around electrical systems. You will work with customers daily for miscellaneous tasks, ranging from help desk work to janitorial work. Support is also needed in receiving, removing, shipping, cabling, installing, replacing, and maintaining IT equipment, as well as escorting vendors performing needed maintenance. You will support determining system and rack level electrical power requirements, hardware placement, installation, move, replacement, and removal activities. The ability to create, inventory, and maintain documentation for IT hardware and infrastructure systems is essential. You should be able to follow instructions, stay on task, and require little supervision once trained in documented processes. Monitoring and ensuring adherence to appearance and safety standards is also part of the role. Participation in Agile project management and a DevSecOps culture is required as necessary. The ability to coordinate, communicate with engineers, and replace IT components in systems as needed is also important. Key tasks include keeping an inventory of all 2000+ devices in the data center, running cat5/cat6 and fiber cables, deploying servers to server racks, creating and working tickets using Remedy, developing power plans for new devices, sending out daily shift mail to coworkers to document and inform, monitoring alarms in WebControl and correcting or escalating them, and ensuring the destruction of storage when necessary during device removal.

Requirements

  • Minimum of ONE (1) year of experience working in facilities and equipment.
  • Familiarity with Web Control infrastructure monitoring software.
  • Must be able to lift to 70lbs.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in the English language.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Strong time-management and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to communicate applicable technical subject matter to management and others.
  • DISC follows the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) service operation best practices.
  • ITIL v4 foundation knowledge.
  • Ability to apply and provide feedback on service operation model and practices.
  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Must be able to OBTAIN and MAINTAIN a Public Trust.
  • Must be willing to work 3rd Shift.
  • Work from heights such as rooftops, ledges, scaffolding, including climbing extension ladders and scaffolding.
  • Move and handle heavy objects such as equipment, tools, and other building materials.
  • Speaking and hearing are sufficient to converse and understand conversations, both in-person, telephone, and virtual meetings.
  • The cognitive skills needed to complete tasks, including abilities such as learning, remembering, focusing, categorizing, and integrating information for decision-making, problem-solving, and comprehending.
