About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Senior Developer / Data Architect with extensive practical experience in modern Oracle platforms and technologies. This role involves designing and implementing enterprise-class data repositories on Oracle on-prem and cloud-hosted databases, developing automated ETL processes from various sources, utilizing API calls for data refreshes, and working with Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC). The ideal candidate will have mastery of SQL and PL/SQL, with the ability to create complex procedures, functions, views, and scripts. Expertise in dimensional modeling and tabular data models is essential. The role requires the ability to translate complex business requirements into robust, performant, scalable, reliable, and expandable technical solutions, with a disciplined approach to process and error logging. Excellent work habits, including coding comments, system documentation, and metadata creation, are expected. This position also involves serving as a technical mentor to IT staff, developing architectural diagrams and system documentation, and independently researching technical options. The individual will work independently with limited oversight to achieve project goals.

Requirements

Extensive practical experience with modern Oracle platforms and technologies.
Significant Senior DBA-level experience with designing and implementing enterprise class data repositories built upon Oracle on-prem and cloud-hosted databases.
Practical experience developing fully automated ETL processes from a variety of flat-file and DB sources.
Practical experience utilizing API calls for automated data refreshes.
Practical experience with Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC).
Mastery of SQL and PL/SQL and the ability to develop complex procedures, functions, views, and scripts.
Expertise in dimensional modeling.
Experience with tabular data models.
Proven ability to accurately capture complex business requirements and translate those into technical solutions which are robust, performant, scalable, reliable, and expandable.
Disciplined approach to process and error logging.
Excellent work habits when it comes to coding comments, system documentation, and metadata creation.
Ability to serve as a technical mentor to both senior and junior IT staff.
Ability to develop architectural diagrams and system documentation, and train others on the content.
Demonstrates previous success in independently researching technical options to find suitable solutions for evolving technical needs.
Works independently towards project and/or assignments goals with limited day-to-day oversight and/or prompting.
Developing automated ETL.

Expertise in dimensional modeling and ability to act as a technical mentor.

Responsibilities

Serve as a daily subject-matter expert for all Oracle technologies and toolsets.
Focus on data modeling and developing automated ETL processes from various data sources.
Develop, monitor, and maintain a variety of automated DB processes.
Research and resolve database issues as they arise.
Perform database management and maintenance tasks.
Serve as a trusted technical advisor to the Maine Department of Transportation (MDOT).
Act as a technical mentor to other IT staff.
Collaborate with other developers, analysts, and DBAs employed by the MDOT and MaineIT.
Work closely with IT vendors, IT leadership, and MDOT business partners.
Play a key role in upcoming system migrations, system expansions, and data modernization efforts.
Design and implement enterprise-class data repositories built upon Oracle on-prem and cloud-hosted databases.
Develop fully automated ETL processes from a variety of flat-file and DB sources.
Utilize API calls for automated data refreshes.
Develop complex SQL and PL/SQL procedures, functions, views, and scripts.
Develop architectural diagrams and system documentation, and train others on the content.
Independently research technical options to find suitable solutions for evolving technical needs.
