About The Position
We are seeking a Senior Data Testing Engineer with a strong business and domain understanding of wealth management platforms and a passion for data quality and automation. This is a hands on role focused on understanding how the business operates, how financial products behave, and how data flows across systems, and then translating that understanding into effective automated data tests. This role emphasizes business driven testing, where the engineer deeply understands products, calculations, data transformations, and downstream impact, and uses Python based data testing and automation tools (e.g., PyTest, Python DQ frameworks) to validate correctness. You will work closely with Product, Business Analysts, Data Engineers, and Developers to ensure financial data is reliable, explainable, and trusted.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in Data Testing or SDET roles with strong business and data focus
- Strong understanding of wealth management or financial services domains
- Hands on experience with: Python and PyTest for data testing automation; Advanced SQL for data validation and reconciliation
- Experience validating: Backend systems, APIs, and integrations from a data perspective; Batch processing and data pipelines
- Ability to understand business rules, calculations, and financial logic, not just schemas
- Banking and Financial Technology Experience Required: 10 & Above
Responsibilities
- Develop strong functional understanding of wealth management products, including: Accounts, positions, holdings, transactions, balances, and statements; Fees, performance, valuations, and corporate actions
- Understand business workflows and data flows end to end, such as: Trade capture → booking → settlement → accounting → reporting; Client onboarding → account setup → funding → transactions; Market data ingestion → pricing → valuation
- Translate business rules and requirements into testable data validation scenarios
- Design and execute data validation and reconciliation tests for: Financial transactions and balances; Positions, holdings, and ledger data; Client, account, security master, and reference data
- Build and maintain automated data quality tests using: Python and PyTest; SQL based assertions and reconciliation queries; Python based data quality or validation frameworks
- Automate validation for: Databases and data stores; APIs and backend services (data centric validation); File based integrations (CSV, JSON, XML)
- Integrate automated data tests into CI/CD pipelines or scheduled runs
- Partner with business, product, and engineering teams to: Clarify requirements and expected data behavior; Investigate data issues with a business first mindset; Provide clear explanations of data breaks and mismatches
- Document defects with business context, data evidence, and root cause insights
