About The Position

This role involves coordinating and monitoring the implementation, development, installation, and maintenance of computer hardware and software systems. The position provides first-level service helpdesk support and acts as a liaison between the Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) and various state offices including Deputy Registrars, Exam Stations, IRP offices, LADR offices, and FADR offices. The coordinator will use manuals to troubleshoot and resolve minor hardware, application (BASS), and network issues, escalating major or non-routine problems to higher-level programmers, network technicians, or vendors. Additionally, the role provides assistance with operational and procedural inquiries related to vehicle registration, the Ohio Revised Code, the Deputy Registrar Manual, Ohio traffic laws, and all associated procedures and processes.

Requirements

  • 3 courses or 9 mos. exp. in electronic data processing/computer science (i.e., excludes data entry/ keypunch)
  • 9 mos. trg. or 9 mos. exp. in computer hardware/software systems
  • 1 course or 3 mos. trg. in operation of computer terminal & peripheral equipment (e.g., printers, modems, bursters, disk & tape drives)
  • Equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above
  • Job Skills: Information Technology

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate & monitor implementation, development, installation &/or maintenance of computer hardware/software systems
  • Provide first level service helpdesk support for & act as liaison between BMV & the state of Ohio Deputy Registrars, Exam Stations, IRP offices, LADR offices, & FADR offices
  • Use manual to troubleshoot & rectify minor issues pertaining to hardware, application (BASS), & network issues
  • Escalate major & non-routine issues to higher level programmers, network technicians &/or vendors
  • Provide assistance regarding operational & procedural inquiries (including, but is not limited to, questions pertaining to vehicle registration, the Ohio Revised Code, Deputy Registrar Manual, Ohio traffic laws, & all related procedures & processes)
