Data Solutions Architect

JANUS Research Group•Fort Bliss, TX

About The Position

The Data Solutions Architect is responsible for architecting, building, and deploying AI-enabled decision-support and assessment platforms for Army experimentation and modernization events. The role works across Army Vantage (Palantir Foundry), SharePoint, Azure environments (T2COM Cloud/C-Army/Advantage), and Microsoft Power Platform. It is a hands-on architecture position involving ontology design, coding, AI development and integration, training, and—when directed—briefing architecture to senior leadership. The successful candidate is expected to learn complex customer processes and data environments quickly and work proactively with a high degree of autonomy. Travel is approximately 25% annually to CONUS and OCONUS locations. The architect owns platform and data architecture, AI agent engineering, application development, classification-aware deployment, dashboards and distribution, and data governance. They establish reliable, traceable, high-quality data and AI outputs for Army senior-leader decision-making, while protecting OPSEC, information assurance, and personally identifiable information. The position requires an active Secret clearance, with SIPR access required for production deployment. The stated target salary range is $90,000–$95,000. JANUS Research Group describes career-growth opportunities through training and development and offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes health and welfare plans, financial products, a referral bonus program, and employee awards. The company also provides reasonable accommodations for qualified applicants with disabilities.

  • Current working knowledge of Army Vantage or Palantir Foundry, including ontology design and application development—not only dashboard consumption; must be able to describe an ontology designed and deployed.
  • Professional proficiency in React and Python.
  • Demonstrated experience integrating commercial LLM APIs into production workflows with human-in-the-loop controls.
  • At least 3 years engineering enterprise data or analytics platforms, including at least 2 years on Palantir-based platforms.
  • At least 3 years of experience in ETL, data wrangling, and pipeline development.
  • Track record delivering to fixed, gated timelines with formal government capability acceptance (IOC/FOC or equivalent).

Nice To Haves

  • TypeScript/JavaScript experience for Foundry Functions.
  • Familiarity with DoD/Army modernization or joint experimentation, such as Project Convergence or similar.
  • Azure cloud services experience, including Data & Storage, Databricks, Analytics, or Purview, as a secondary environment.
  • Experience supporting live experimentation events with rapid capture-to-insight cycles, including observer workflows and rapporteur/transcript pipelines.

Responsibilities

  • Independently drive assigned work from start to completion, proactively resolve obstacles, and communicate project status, technical concepts, and risks to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Design and implement ontology schemas, object types, write-back Actions, and permissioning models on Army Vantage / Palantir Foundry; own the end-to-end data model, write path, audit trail, and permissioning model.
  • Design, build, and operate LLM-powered agents for distillation, conversational queries, insight generation, and scoring or coaching using commercial LLM APIs.
  • Enforce source citations to ontology object IDs, confidence scoring, and human-in-the-loop review before AI output is presented to leadership.
  • Build production data-capture, analytics, and review applications, including validated multi-step forms, cascading data structures, transcript ingestion pipelines, review and approval queues, and drill-down analytical views.
  • Plan and execute NIPR development-to-SIPR production promotion, including end-to-end testing against representative prior-event data and coordination of the accreditation path.
  • Analyze platform and integration trade-offs under operational constraints and brief recommendations and decisions to senior military leadership for formal acceptance.
  • Develop native Foundry dashboards and Power BI distribution-layer products, and partner with staff teams on predictive analytics using Python or other appropriate tools.
  • Establish and enforce data governance, lineage, traceability, quality, and AI-output traceability standards to support authoritative, trusted decision-making data.
  • Deliver work products on time and to high standards of quality, accuracy, and completeness, taking ownership of deliverable quality to minimize rework.
  • Champion OPSEC, information assurance, and PII safeguards in workflows in alignment with DoD and Army enterprise architecture standards.
  • Travel approximately 25% per year to CONUS and OCONUS locations.
