About The Position

Walmart is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to leverage advanced analytical techniques and data science expertise to drive business insights and solutions. This role involves identifying and sourcing relevant data, developing and validating predictive models, and deploying scalable analytical solutions. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate complex business challenges into data-driven strategies, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Strong proficiency in programming, data visualization, and model assessment is essential to support decision-making and enhance operational performance across multiple business domains. Sponsorship is not available for this role. Our team enhances Walmart’s e-commerce search backend by applying machine learning and advanced algorithms to deliver precise product results. Focused on improving the customer journey, the team ensures seamless transitions from intent to purchase. Utilizing expertise in data science, natural language processing, and large language models, the team continuously refines search accuracy and user experience. Collaborating across functions, it supports scalable model deployment and data pipeline development, driving optimized business outcomes through innovative, data-driven solutions. This team fosters a culture of technical excellence and cross-functional partnership to advance Walmart’s digital capabilities.

Requirements

Proven expertise in data science and machine learning techniques to develop and deploy analytical models.
Proficiency in Python programming and data visualization tools such as Matplotlib, Plotly, or Tableau.
Strong knowledge of data sources, database technologies including SQL and NoSQL, and data quality assessment.
Experience in model validation, tuning, and performance evaluation using statistical methods.
Ability to translate complex business problems into data-driven solutions aligned with strategic objectives.
Familiarity with data governance, management standards, and scalable model deployment practices.
Effective communication skills to present insights and mentor junior team members.
Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 3 years' experience in an analytics related field.
Master’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 1 years' experience in an analytics related field.
5 years' experience in an analytics or related field.
