About the position
We are looking for a Data Scientist to support our client in the Healthcare industry onsite in Houston, Texas. The ideal candidate should have a background in data science and knowledge/experience in optimization, working with large datasets, and operations research. They should also be able to effectively communicate and respect the company's core values. The responsibilities of this role include using mathematical/statistical computational techniques to analyze complex problems, developing algorithms and mathematical models, analyzing and interpreting large datasets, and implementing machine learning algorithms. A Bachelor's degree in a related field is required, with 3+ years of professional experience in data science or scientific software development/analysis.
Responsibilities
- Use and develop mathematical/statistical computational techniques to analyze complex problems and promote data-driven decision-making to improve safety, quality, and efficiency
- Develop algorithms and mathematical models
- Define, analyze, and resolve analytical problems
- Design and implement experiments to test hypotheses and validate models
- Analyze and interpret large datasets to identify trends and patterns
- Develop and implement machine learning algorithms to automate processes and improve decision-making
- Collaborate and present data
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, Science, Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, Computational Biology, or related field (Master's degree or Ph.D. preferred)
- 3+ years of professional experience in data science or scientific software development/analysis with a machine learning focus, OR 1+ years of professional experience required with a Master's degree in a related field, OR no additional professional experience required with a Ph.D. in a related field
- Proficiency in Python, R, C++, and Java
- Experience in machine learning/deep learning methods including neural network design and statistical analysis
- Experience with multiple modern techniques and algorithms in machine learning and statistical computing such as regression, clustering/segmentation, time-series analysis, predictive analytics, supervised/unsupervised learning, and decision trees
