Data Engineering Manager

Pure Storage is seeking an experienced leader to join them as a Manager, Data and Analytics in Prague. This individual will be responsible for leading a team of data engineers to deliver robust master data solutions and improve/optimize Pure's business operations and processes. They will develop and implement a strategic vision for unifying core master entities across systems and data sources, and will have in-depth knowledge of business-critical knowledge domains. The role involves establishing data as a service, collaborating with subject matter experts, assessing inefficiencies, recruiting and developing a high-performing team, and working closely with cross-functional teams to shape the overall data and analytics vision. Additionally, the Manager will evaluate and select appropriate data technologies and tools, and implement data governance policies to ensure data quality, security, and compliance.

Establish data as a service, enabling efficient, integrated, end-to-end management & delivery of high-quality data assets across the value chain

Collaborate closely with subject matter experts to analyze and interpret data and KPIs; conduct deep dives to identify bottlenecks and growth triggers

Assess inefficiencies and existing processes to identify improvement opportunities

Recruit, develop, and lead a high performing team of leaders and individual contributors, mentoring and coaching team members to develop their skill

Managing and leading a team of data engineers, providing guidance and support to ensure their success

Working closely with the Product Management, Cross functional and internal team leaders to shape the overall data and analytics vision, as well as capability roadmaps for knowledge domains covered by the organization

Evaluating and selecting appropriate data technologies and tools to support the organization's data infrastructure

Developing and implementing data governance policies to ensure data quality, security, and compliance

9+ years of experience in software development

Deep understanding of data engineering concepts, technologies, and best practices

Experience with data storage solutions, data processing frameworks, data integration tools, data warehousing, data modeling, and data governance

Effective leadership skills to inspire and motivate a team of data engineers

Experience managing large-scale data engineering projects

Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Collaboration skills to work effectively with other teams, such as data scientists and business analysts

Strategic thinking to leverage data for driving business outcomes

Problem-solving skills to identify and resolve technical challenges
