Data Center Technician (Early Talent)

Nebius•Minnesota, United States, MN

About The Position

The Nebius IT Data Center Technician Early Talent program is a paid, structured three-month work experience for current university students in Computer Science or a related field, recent graduates, and early-career specialists. Participants work on the data center floor as active team members alongside experienced data center technicians and senior operations staff. The program introduces hands-on enterprise data center operations and develops foundational technical skills, familiarity with Nebius operational standards, and safe equipment-handling practices. Participants work under the direct guidance of an experienced technician. Hands-on tasks begin under close supervision, with responsibility increasing as participants demonstrate proficiency and adherence to safety and operational standards. Progress follows a competency model: orientation and shadowing in weeks 1–3; assisted execution in weeks 4–7; supervised independence within validated scope in weeks 8–10; and, for qualified participants, minimal supervision on validated tasks in weeks 11–12. Technician oversight remains in place for work outside a participant’s established scope. Participants who complete the program with strong evaluations may be considered for the Nebius early talent pipeline. The role includes learning about server and rack hardware, assisting with installation and cabling, inventory and asset tracking, basic connectivity checks, and ticketing and documentation. Participants complete required safety training and certifications, follow site procedures, attend weekly mentor check-ins, complete training modules, and shadow senior technicians during incidents, deployments, and troubleshooting activities. The role has physical demands that include extended periods standing, lifting and positioning equipment up to 50 pounds unassisted, working at heights and in confined spaces, handling equipment in variable temperatures, and pushing or pulling carts and server sleds up to 500 pounds on level surfaces. The position is described as a three-month program starting in January 2027. Compensation is listed as $48,000–$72,000 USD, with actual compensation dependent on job-related factors and location.
