About The Position

A large, well-known software company is hiring Level 2 Data Center Technicians for an onsite role in Portland, Oregon. This contract position involves troubleshooting data center servers, performing hardware repairs and upgrades, updating firmware, configuring server network settings, and assisting network administrators with server and switch issues. The role may involve day, swing, or night shifts, including Monday–Friday or front-half/back-half schedules. The posting describes a pay range of $35.00–$37.00 per hour. The anticipated application deadline is November 12, 2026.

Requirements

• At least 2–3 years of data center technician experience.
• Experience racking, stacking, and configuring servers and other data center equipment.
• Hands-on fiber-optic wiring and cabling experience.
• Break/fix experience and hands-on troubleshooting (smart hands experience), not only remote-hands work.
• Experience with end-of-row infrastructure and network patching.
• Linux-based troubleshooting experience.
• BIOS configuration and firmware experience.

Nice To Haves

• Liquid cooling experience.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot servers and isolate the problems they are experiencing.
• Order replacement parts, install them in servers, and ship defective parts back to vendors.
• Update server firmware to ensure the latest version is installed.
• Configure IP addresses and default login credentials on servers.
• Assist network administrators with server and switch issues, including replacing or rerouting cables, replacing optics, and installing replacement or upgraded server parts.
• Temporarily rack and stack servers or switches in a cabinet and cable them so network administrators can log in remotely and configure the devices.
• Respond to network administrators requesting specific assistance with servers or switches.
