About The Position

The Data Center Break/Fix Technician II is a mid-level technical role focused on diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving hardware-related issues in a mission-critical data center environment. As a frontline responder for server, storage, and network equipment failures, you'll work with vendor support teams and internal engineering to ensure timely resolution while maintaining structured cabling systems and following IT service management processes.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent with minimum 2-3 years of hands-on data center or IT hardware experience
  • Solid understanding of server, storage, and network hardware systems with troubleshooting capabilities
  • Experience with structured cabling installation and repair for both fiber and copper systems
  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools including BMC interfaces (iDRAC, iLO) and CLI tools for system recovery
  • Knowledge of IT service management processes including ticketing systems and change management protocols
  • Ability to work within SLA timeframes in high-pressure, mission-critical environments
  • Strong documentation skills and experience with asset tracking databases and maintenance logs
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in Information Technology, Electronics, or related technical field
  • Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or vendor-specific certifications
  • Experience with DCIM tools (Sunbird preferred) and site monitoring systems
  • Basic knowledge of root cause analysis and incident resolution reporting
  • Previous experience working with OEM vendor support processes and warranty logistics
  • Familiarity with data center commissioning/decommissioning and lifecycle management activities
  • Experience mentoring junior technical staff in hardware troubleshooting procedures

Responsibilities

  • Perform break/fix support for server, storage, and network equipment including diagnostics, part replacement, and full component swaps
  • Respond to incident tickets and service requests within defined SLA timeframes while documenting root cause analysis for hardware failures
  • Interface with OEM vendors (Dell, HPE, Cisco) for warranty support and part logistics coordination
  • Manage onsite inventory of spare parts and tools, tracking usage and reordering as needed while updating DCIM tools
  • Perform structured cabling installs and repairs for both fiber and copper connections
  • Follow data center change management processes for all break/fix interventions and document work in ticketing systems
  • Mentor and train Level I technicians while escalating complex issues to senior staff or engineering teams as necessary
