TSMC Arizona is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Center Infrastructure Engineer to lead the operation, optimization, and automation of our high-performance data center facilities. This role blends hands-on infrastructure management with project-level design, overseeing both new construction projects and the operation of existing facilities. You will drive continuous improvement, manage projects from planning through execution, and evaluate emerging IT and DevOps technologies to enhance efficiency and performance. Requirements

  • Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related technical field.
  • At least three (3) years of experience in operating and maintaining mission-critical facilities, including electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems.
  • Skilled in using monitoring and log analysis tools to quickly identify and resolve operational issues.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexible to work non-standard hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required.
  • Ability to work across office, clean-room, and data center environments, performing tasks that range from standard office duties to specialized operations in controlled spaces, including the ability to occasionally stand, walk, reach, bend, and carry light objects.
  • Occasionally lift or move to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to use a computer, keyboard mouse and other standard office equipment for prolonged periods of time.
  • Able to wear clean-room suit while standing and/or walking in the FAB as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Licensed Electrical Technician.
  • Familiarity with immersion cooling and thermal system simulations, including DLC system optimization for ongoing operations and development.
  • Strong Python programming skills with experience in API development and automation scripting to streamline operations.
  • Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Solid understanding of DevOps practices and deploying containerized applications in production environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead or support projects for both new data center construction and upgrades to existing facilities, ensuring timely and efficient execution.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and IT teams to define project scope, objectives, and technical requirements.
  • Provide operational and system expertise during design reviews, equipment selection, and commissioning.
  • Track project progress, identify risks, and implement solutions to keep schedules and performance targets on track.
  • Ensure all projects comply with safety standards, quality requirements, and environmental regulations.
  • Recommend improvements and lessons learned from completed projects to optimize future operations and designs.
  • Regularly inspect and maintain critical systems, including HVAC, UPS, generators, electrical distribution, piping, and water treatment.
  • Monitor facility systems and respond promptly to abnormal conditions to maintain uptime and reliability.
  • Identify and resolve system issues, ensuring continuous and safe operation of data center infrastructure.
  • Support the startup, commissioning, and integration of new equipment, tracking system performance trends and implementing improvements.
  • Conduct thermal simulations and flow optimization analyses to define optimal cooling architectures during early-stage development.
  • Lead the implementation and optimization of immersion and direct liquid cooling (DLC) tank/rack infrastructure to achieve a PUE target below 1.1.
  • Oversee the maintenance and diagnostic troubleshooting of cooling systems to ensure reliable and high-performance operation.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce operational costs and enhance overall energy efficiency.
