About The Position

Iron Mountain is seeking a Data Center Eradication Technician to join its Data Center Operations team. The role supports the company’s circular data center model by managing media sanitization and hardware lifecycle processes for a technology client. The technician safely destroys devices, tracks chain of custody, and maintains inventory standards to protect data and support sustainable infrastructure. This is an on-site position; the posting identifies Trenton, South Carolina, as the work location in two places, but also lists Rosemount, Minnesota, under benefits and schedule information.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience in data center environments, inventory management, or PC/server hardware repair.
• Comfort operating Windows and Mac OS and using task-tracking or productivity suites.
• Ability to lift at least 40 lbs and navigate a fast-paced physical workspace.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel up to 10% to support regional sites.
• U.S. citizenship or permanent residency.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Safely destroy storage devices while maintaining accurate logical tracking and chain-of-custody records.
• Coordinate device pickups, organize the eradication workspace, and reconcile destroyed media across internal tracking systems.
• Collaborate on process improvements, update playbooks, document policies, and participate in operational syncs to capture action items.
• Troubleshoot physical and logical inventory discrepancies while meeting service level agreements.
• Transport storage media between campuses and partner with global teams on technical innovations and side projects.
