As part of Google's global controls team, the Data Center Controls Engineer works with experts and innovators in the data center industry to troubleshoot, project manage, and maintain Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS). The role develops new processes and standards while innovating in the controls space, using Google leadership principles. Google data centers include components such as generators, UPS, electrical switchgear, power distribution units, variable frequency drives, automatic/static transfer switches, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, and heat exchangers. The Data Center Engineering team advances the physical design of data centers and develops, tests, and implements improvements to power use and environmentally friendly facilities. The role contributes technical expertise, ensures compliance with codes and standards, develops infrastructure improvements, and serves as a specialist in areas such as cooling or electrical systems. It involves communicating recommendations to senior-level executives and driving implementation alongside facilities technicians. Individual pay is determined by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. The US salary range is $121,000–$174,000 USD, with a 15% bonus target, equity, and benefits.
