Data Architect - 12 month contract

Euna Solutions•Atlanta, GA
•Hybrid

About The Position

Euna Solutions is seeking a Data Architect to define the reference architecture, engineering patterns, and governance posture for its data program. The role combines setting a durable blueprint with hands-on delivery and building data products when the team needs additional support. The architect will create practical, documented patterns that a small engineering team can operate and extend without unnecessary complexity. The position focuses on a managed AWS data foundation, layered data architecture, governance across the data lifecycle, and reusable patterns for building data products. It also includes designing loosely coupled integrations with operational systems and establishing criteria for when low-code workflows are appropriate. The role is a 12-month contract and is hybrid, with three days per week in the Atlanta, Georgia office (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday).

Requirements

  • Senior data architecture experience with production AWS systems, including S3-based lake or lakehouse designs and a governed analytical layer.
  • Deep fluency with medallion or layered data architectures and the governance controls applied across them.
  • Experience designing contextual or semantic data layers that reduce GenAI token consumption so downstream AI features run faster and cost less.
  • Hands-on knowledge of managed AWS data services such as Glue, Athena, Lake Formation, and DMS or equivalent, with a preference for managed services over self-run systems.
  • Proven experience designing for data classification, PII handling, access control, lineage, and residency.
  • Ability to define a practical blueprint without over-engineering, defer work not yet needed by the backlog, and provide clean, documented patterns for a small team.
  • Willingness to work hybrid, three days per week in the Atlanta office (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday).

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with dbt and warehouse-side modeling such as Redshift.
  • Familiarity with low-code orchestration such as n8n.
  • Experience with Canadian data residency requirements and multi-region AWS deployments.
  • A track record of establishing governance from day one rather than retrofitting it later.
  • Experience in a regulated or public sector context.

Responsibilities

  • Define a managed AWS reference architecture that provides reliability without requiring a large team to operate it.
  • Specify a layered data model from raw through cleansed and curated data to a safe analytical layer containing no sensitive data.
  • Establish governance across data layers, including data classification, constituent PII handling, access control, lineage, and residency.
  • Create reusable engineering patterns for data capture, landing and storage, transformation and serving, and governance.
  • Design loosely coupled connections to operational systems using change-data-capture or scheduled extracts, avoiding hard dependencies on operational-system roadmaps.
  • Define a two-speed guardrail that makes the governed, pattern-based approach the default and sets narrow criteria for permitted low-code workflows.
  • Contribute directly to delivery by building data products when the team needs additional support.
  • Hand off clean, documented patterns that a small team can execute and maintain.

Benefits

  • Two additional Eunafier Days per year, each adding a day to a long weekend.
  • Up to eight hours per year for philanthropic or community causes.
  • Professional development support through budget, mentorship, and opportunities to move into new roles.
