Data Analytics & Visualization Instructor - Columbia University (Remote)

This job is for a Data Science professional who will be teaching and mentoring students in an online learning environment. The role involves leading online lectures, facilitating discussions, providing support and feedback to students, and creating an engaging and inclusive learning environment. The ideal candidate should have a Master's Degree, at least 5 years of work experience in Data Science, and proficiency in Python programming, databases, business intelligence software, and advanced topics such as Big Data Analytics and Machine Learning. This is a part-time, remote position with the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of students seeking to transition into careers in Big Data.

- Lead online lectures following a detailed lesson plan that includes an active discussion environment and project-based learning - Bring the learning experience to life by building community and enhancing relevance by drawing on your own industry experience - Translate complex subject matter in a clear and concise manner for a diverse range of learners or skill levels - Provide support and encouragement to students as they go through a life-changing experience - Create an engaging, positive, and inclusive learning environment for our students - Increase participant engagement using different facilitation tactics - Guide large and small groups of learners in an empathetic manner - Amplify student satisfaction by creating a positive classroom culture - Communicating timely with students and leveraging effective interventions by sharing resources - Share your own professional experiences and industry insight with the students - Be able to infuse empathy, support, encouragement, and fun into the student experience

- Master's Degree Required - Minimum of 5 years of work experience in Data Science - Must have a laptop, camera, at least one additional monitor, microphone / headset, and reliable internet access. - A positive attitude - Ability to deliver lesson plans provided by 2U - Share your own professional experiences and industry insight with the students - Be able to infuse empathy, support, encouragement, and fun into the student experience - Proficiency in Python Programming - Python, NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib - Proficiency in Databases - MySQL and MongoDB - Proficiency in Business Intelligence Software - Tableau - Proficiency in Advanced Topics - Big Data Analytics with Hadoop, and Machine Learning
