About the position
edX is seeking a Cybersecurity professional to join their team as a Teaching Assistant. This is a remote, part-time position that involves creating an engaging and inclusive learning environment for students. The Teaching Assistant will assist the instructor with class time management, answer student questions, and grade assignments. The ideal candidate should have at least 6 months of cybersecurity experience and be familiar with various security fundamentals, systems administration, networks and network security, defensive security, and offensive security. Responsibilities
- Create an engaging, positive, and inclusive learning environment for students
- Explain complex topics to individuals with both technical and non-technical backgrounds
- Bring the learning experience to life by drawing on your own industry experience
- Infuse empathy, support, encouragement, and fun into the students' learning progression
- Assist the Instructor with class time management
- Observe the class during code activities and projects to assist students (via Zoom)
- Research and answer student questions
- Grade homework and group project assignments when applicable
- Familiarity with security fundamentals, systems administration, networks and network security, defensive security, and offensive security
- At least 6 months of cybersecurity experience (or equivalent)
- Bachelor's Degree preferred, but not required
- Completion of background check with satisfactory results
- Must have a laptop, camera, and reliable internet access
- Familiarity with Linux-based computers and Apple MacBooks featuring the Apple Silicon M1 or M2 chip is not permitted
- Class schedule: M/T/TH
- Class times: 6:00 - 10:15pm (includes office hours and break)
- 24-week program (part-time commitment)
Requirements
- At least 6 months of cybersecurity experience (or equivalent)
- Bachelor's Degree preferred, but not required
- Completion of background check with satisfactory results
- Must have a laptop, camera, and reliable internet access
- One additional monitor, microphone/headset highly recommended
- Familiarity with Security Fundamentals, Systems Administration, Networks and Network Security, Defensive Security, and Offensive Security
- 24-week program commitment
