About the position
We are seeking an instructor for a full-time Remote Analytics course at General Assembly. The course focuses on teaching students how to analyze messy real-world datasets using tools such as Excel, SQL, Tableau, Power BI, and Python. The instructor will be responsible for leading the course, which is a temporary position with a specific start and end date. The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of experience in data analysis and be skilled in using the aforementioned tools. Additionally, experience in a remote environment and a background in adult learning or curriculum development are preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Teach and facilitate in-class instruction Monday-Friday, approximately 8 hours per day, for the 12-14 week duration of the program
- Work closely with the instructional team to provide student support and guidance
- Use Excel, SQL, Tableau, Power BI, and Python as primary tools for data analysis
- Clean messy data, analyze data, and present data-based insights
- Shape the skills, minds, and trajectories of General Assembly students
- Provide remote instruction and utilize necessary tools for remote work (video conferencing, messaging, etc.)
- Develop curriculum and facilitate workshops for adult learning and professional development
- Possess good moral character and strong decision-making abilities
- Demonstrate language, mathematical, reasoning, and computer skills to ensure teaching effectiveness
Requirements
- Strong experience using Excel, SQL, Tableau, Power BI, and Python
- Ability to shape the skills, minds, and trajectories of students
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to assist colleagues in figuring things out
- Minimum of 5 years of work experience in cleaning messy data, analyzing data, and presenting data-based insights
- Preferred experience working in a remote environment and using remote tools
- Background in adult learning, pedagogy, and curriculum development is a plus
- Experience in workshop facilitation and professional development is a plus
- Completion of a bachelor's degree or at least 10 years of applicable experience
- At least 2 years of practical experience within the last five years, 3 years preferred
- Good moral character and strong decision-making abilities
- Language, mathematical, reasoning, and computer skills that assure teaching effectiveness
- Ability to teach and facilitate in-class instruction for approximately 8 hours per day, Monday-Friday, for the duration of the program
