About The Position

This posting is for a 4-month Student Winter 2027 placement with a start date of January 11, 2027 and end-date of April 30, 2027. To be eligible, students must be returning to school after the work term or graduating in April 2027 and requiring the work term as a mandatory component for graduation. Join RBC Commercial Banking, a key partner to Canada’s leading businesses, driving economic impact and transforming client experiences through collaboration, digital platforms, and innovative solutions. We are seeking a data-driven student with a passion for uncovering insights and driving business storytelling to join our Commercial Banking team. This role involves working with cutting-edge Business Intelligence technologies to transform data into actionable strategies, refine analytical skills, and contribute to meaningful business decisions. Potential placements include Data Analyst, RBCx Analytics Intern, Client Insights Analyst, and Analyst, Transaction Banking.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Tools including Excel (Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, Data visualization), PowerPoint (creating compelling executive presentations and storytelling with data)
  • Strong proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., SQL, Python, R) and Business Intelligence platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail
  • Passion for data and a desire to drive business growth through insights
  • Understanding of business fundamentals, financial analysis, financial modelling, data management, accounting principles and strategic business rationales
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments and adjust to new challenges
  • Collaboration & Communication skills; cross-functional teamwork and stakeholder engagement across all roles
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of commercial banking, financial services and business fundamentals
  • Previous internship or co-op experience in Data
  • Familiarity with AI, databases, data engineering concepts and/or cloud technologies
  • Exposure to software development practices, application support or workflow automation
  • Ability to interpret and communicate complex technical insights to non-technical stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Identify, manage, analyze, and interpret data to support the identification of meaningful and actionable themes, recommendations and insights that drive business growth
  • Work with cutting-edge Business Intelligence technologies and data tools to streamline processes and enhance decision-making
  • Develop creative problem-solving and analytical skills to address complex business challenges
  • Refine communication and presentation skills by presenting findings and recommendations to business partners and senior management
  • Engage with various parts of the data lifecycle, including building data pipelines, feature engineering, data deep dives, and machine learning model development
