About The Position

The Data & AI Solutions Developer builds governed data products, Power BI solutions, and applied AI tools that Cerrowire teams use to make decisions. Working in Microsoft Fabric and Azure AI Foundry, the developer turns approved business requirements into production solutions and owns technical delivery from design through support. The role focuses primarily on the gold layer: semantic models, standardized metrics, and the BI and AI experiences built on them. The Senior Data Engineer owns ingestion through the silver layer, while this role owns the user-facing solutions built from that data. The successful candidate brings solid Fabric, SQL, and Python skills, hands-on generative AI experience, and judgment to build secure, measurable, cost-aware AI solutions.

Requirements

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis; employment visa sponsorship is not available now or in the future.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3–5 years of experience in business intelligence, analytics engineering, data engineering, or software development.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric or a comparable cloud data platform.
  • Strong SQL skills, including developing and troubleshooting complex queries and data structures.
  • Working proficiency in Python, including notebook-based or PySpark data work.
  • Power BI experience, including semantic modeling, DAX, and report development.
  • Hands-on development of at least one generative AI solution, such as a RAG application, agent, or LLM-integrated workflow.
  • Experience with Git-based version control.

Nice To Haves

  • Microsoft Certified: Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate.
  • Production experience with AI agents, RAG, embeddings, or vector databases, including Azure AI Foundry.
  • Experience with Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Automate and Power Apps.
  • Experience with row-level security, Entra ID, or Microsoft Purview.
  • Experience in manufacturing, or with Sage X3 or Salesforce data.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain gold-layer data products, semantic models, and standardized business metrics in Microsoft Fabric, partnering with the Senior Data Engineer on upstream pipelines.
  • Develop Power BI reports and Copilot-enabled experiences that let users securely interact with governed datasets.
  • Implement usage telemetry and adoption dashboards for BI, automation, and AI tools, and recommend improvements based on usage patterns.
  • Design, build, and deploy AI agents, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) solutions, and agentic workflows using Azure AI Foundry, Microsoft Copilot, and other approved enterprise AI platforms.
  • Build and maintain embeddings, vector stores, and grounding strategies that connect AI solutions to governed data.
  • Evaluate AI solutions for retrieval quality, groundedness, reliability, latency, and usability; implement monitoring, logging, error handling, and human-in-the-loop review.
  • Automate business processes with Power Automate and Power Apps where appropriate.
  • Apply data classification, PII handling, and access controls, including row-level security and Entra ID, to BI and AI solutions.
  • Design AI solutions to resist prompt injection and limit agent permissions to the minimum required.
  • Serve as a technical resource in Data & AI governance and use-case reviews.
  • Own technical delivery after requirements are approved, including design, development, testing, deployment, documentation, and production support.
  • Follow SDLC practices, including Git version control, Fabric deployment pipelines, testing, release management, and documentation of designs, data definitions, lineage, and runbooks.
  • Build reusable components, templates, and prompt patterns to speed future development.
  • Run proofs of concept and make evidence-based technology recommendations covering fit, security, scalability, and cost, including Fabric capacity and AI consumption.
  • Work with analysts, the Senior Data Engineer, plant and business stakeholders, and vendors on design, implementation, and knowledge transfer.
  • Mentor peers through design and code reviews, and lead demos and office hours that build practical adoption of data and AI.
