AI Solutions Developer
About The Position
Stepan Company is building an enterprise-wide AI capability through its RISE (Results-Driven Intelligence for Stepan Excellence) program, which focuses on delivering business value through automation, AI, and intelligent agents. The Senior AI Solutions Developer is a hands-on senior engineering role responsible for designing, building, and deploying enterprise-grade AI solutions, and for delivering them from ideation through production and adoption. The primary ecosystem is Microsoft, including Copilot, Power Platform, and Azure, while the role also calls for applying suitable modern LLM frameworks, agent orchestration platforms, and cloud-native architectures. The role develops AI-powered applications, copilots, and autonomous agents; integrates AI with enterprise systems and data; and implements retrieval-augmented generation, vector search, and knowledge grounding. The developer owns the full delivery lifecycle, including requirements gathering, architecture, development, testing, deployment, production support, governance, security, and quality. The role also partners with business stakeholders to identify use cases, prototype solutions, and encourage adoption through training and enablement.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in software development, automation, or enterprise solution engineering.
- Hands-on experience building AI or automation solutions in production environments.
- Strong programming experience; Python is preferred.
- Experience integrating with APIs, web services, and enterprise systems.
- Experience working with LLMs, such as OpenAI or Azure OpenAI, including prompt design and system integration.
- Proven ability to design and deliver scalable, enterprise-grade solutions end-to-end.
- Experience with version control such as Git and modern DevOps practices.
- Bachelor's degree required.

Nice To Haves
- Additional programming experience in C#, JavaScript, or similar languages.
- Experience with Microsoft Copilot Studio, Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse), Azure AI, or Azure ML, or equivalent experience with LLM frameworks such as LangChain or LlamaIndex and cloud AI platforms such as AWS or GCP.
- Experience with agent orchestration frameworks.
- Experience with Agentic AI, multi-agent systems, Model Context Protocol (MCP), or similar tool integration approaches.
- Experience with RAG architectures and vector databases.
- Experience with data engineering platforms such as Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, or Snowflake.
- Familiarity with enterprise environments, including ERP systems such as SAP, data integration, and governance frameworks.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and deploy scalable AI-powered applications, copilots, and autonomous agents that solve business problems across functions.
- Design and implement multi-step, agent-driven workflows using LLMs, APIs, enterprise data, and orchestration frameworks to execute business processes end-to-end.
- Build solutions using Microsoft Copilot Studio, Power Platform, and Azure AI, or equivalent tools and platforms.
- Integrate AI solutions with enterprise systems, including SAP, data platforms, APIs, data warehouses, and Microsoft 365, using modern integration patterns and protocols.
- Implement RAG, vector search, and knowledge-grounding strategies for enterprise data sources.
- Own delivery from requirements gathering and architecture through development, testing, deployment, and production support.
- Ensure solutions align with enterprise standards for security and data privacy, responsible AI, observability, logging, and monitoring.
- Partner with business stakeholders to identify use cases, prototype solutions, and drive adoption through training and enablement.
