About The Position

The Dairy Manager performs a broad range of dairy department responsibilities while working with and reporting to the Grocery Manager. The role assists with directing department operations, supervising and training personnel, ordering and handling merchandise, maintaining inventory and product standards, and supporting grocery department operations. It also promotes friendly customer service and sales while following company policies and safe work practices. The work takes place in a temperature-controlled store and may involve cold cases, coolers, freezers, loading and receiving areas, and occasional outdoor exposure. This is a safety-sensitive position. Physical work includes frequent lifting and maneuvering of objects up to approximately 80 pounds, pushing and pulling loaded hand trucks and pallet jacks, standing and moving for extended periods, and frequent bending, stooping, twisting, and turning.

Ability to frequently reach, lift, stack, and maneuver objects of varying dimensions and weights up to approximately 80 pounds from floor level to overhead.
Ability to push and pull fully loaded hand trucks and pallet jacks.
Ability to stand, walk, and move rapidly for long periods, and frequently bend, stoop, twist, and turn.
May need to climb ladders.
Ability to use cleaning supplies, chemicals, and safety cutters as needed.

Responsibilities

Assist the Grocery Manager in directing Dairy Department operations, including supervising and training personnel.
Assist with ordering, receiving, storing, stocking, inventory control, and building displays.
Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness, emphasizing safe, friendly, and courteous service.
Use suggestive selling and other sales techniques.
Assist the Grocery Manager with planning regular and seasonal merchandise requirements and special sales needs.
Rotate and face products; clean and dust shelves; process and discard outdated or spoiled products; and prevent the sale of out-of-code products.
Order Dairy merchandise.
Train, teach, and coach employees on dairy stocking and conditioning standards.
Assist with dry grocery order writing, grocery stocking and conditioning, new items, and the reclamation process.
Manage backroom inventory, conditions, and standards.
Assist with grocery department merchandising and building displays.
Act as a backup cashier when needed.
Comply with company policies, including attendance, grooming standards, and dress codes.
