About The Position

CityVet Capitol Hill is a hybrid general practice and urgent care veterinary hospital in Denver, Colorado, led by Dr. Heather Newett. The practice has a collaborative, diverse team and is seeking a veterinarian who is curious, adaptable, and willing to work alongside teammates. The caseload is approximately 50% urgent care, with the remainder spanning primary care, wellness, dentistry, surgery, and other services. The clinic accommodates same-day procedures, drop-offs, walk-ins, and unexpected cases. DVMs typically see 12–15 patients per day in 30-minute appointments and have dedicated surgery days, with approximately 4–6 procedures on those days. The hospital includes seven exam rooms, a designated cat room, a large central treatment area, a spacious surgery suite, private dog and cat wards, and a dedicated isolation ward. Equipment and resources include digital dental radiography, ultrasound, cautery, therapeutic laser, Zoetis analyzers, Imagyst, in-house cPL, and access to MOVES specialists in cardiology, surgery, and oncology. The clinic also offers 15-minute technician appointments. The practice welcomes veterinarians with varied backgrounds and experience levels, including new graduates. Dr. Newett is interested in mentoring a new graduate as they develop clinical and surgical skills, while supporting learning, confidence, and professional autonomy. The role focuses on high-quality medical care for pets and strong relationships with their owners, with an interest in general practice and/or urgent care. CityVet describes its veterinarian-led model as emphasizing collaboration, autonomy, career growth, mentorship, and opportunities for ownership.
