About The Position

ACCEL Schools is hiring a Daily Substitute Teacher at Northeast Ohio College Preparatory School in Cleveland, Ohio. The role supports a continuous EK-12 college-preparatory public charter school and helps provide a positive classroom environment that promotes student learning and social-emotional development. The school serves students across adjoining EK-8 and high school campuses in the Tremont neighborhood.

The teacher prepares and delivers lessons, adapts instruction to students’ needs, maintains records of student progress, and uses research-based practices and school-approved curricula. The role also includes managing classroom behavior, communicating with families and colleagues, incorporating technology, and participating in non-instructional activities as needed.

Requirements

• Active and current State of Ohio teaching license in the appropriate content area.
• Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
• Comfort working in a growth-focused coaching environment involving frequent observations, debriefs, action planning, and progress monitoring.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to properly manage confidential information.
• Ability to supervise students of various ages in different school settings, including playgrounds and cafeterias.
• Ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks.
• Experience working within an urban environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver lesson plans, modifying them as appropriate during the school year.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students.
• Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development.
• Use research-based best practices in daily planning and classroom instruction.
• Manage student behavior in the classroom.
• Create a positive classroom environment for learning.
• Use school-approved curricula that reflect students’ diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds.
• Implement school-wide culture expectations and norms.
• Communicate and meet with families regarding their child’s academic and social-emotional growth.
• Incorporate technology skills into daily classroom practice to support learning.
• Participate in planning and implementing non-instructional activities as needed.
• Collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
