About The Position

The Cylinder Handler loads and unloads compressed gas cylinders and other products onto and off route trucks and trailers. The role moves cylinders by rolling them and operating a forklift, sorts empty cylinders by type, checks quantities, styles, and products, and assists with inventory. The Cylinder Handler reviews customer orders, selects items from full inventory, and loads them onto trucks for delivery. The position also handles cryogenic liquid cylinders and hazardous materials (HAZMAT), completes shipment paperwork, and performs basic cylinder maintenance such as painting, labeling, and cleaning.

The role completes routine and non-routine daily and weekly assignments and maintains accurate documentation and product labels in accordance with nexAir safety and quality requirements. The Cylinder Handler maintains a clean and orderly workplace, follows company policies and safety procedures, reports accidents, near misses, unsafe acts, and unsafe conditions, and sets a positive example for other employees. Personal protective equipment (PPE) and flame-retardant (FR) clothing are required. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

• High school degree or GED required.
• Must be in good physical condition and able to roll cylinders weighing 200 pounds or more and lift 50 pounds.
• Able to work in indoor and outdoor conditions throughout the year.
• Able to work flexible hours within 2–3 hours of starting and quitting times.

Nice To Haves

• One or more years of manufacturing or plant experience preferred.
• Forklift operating experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload compressed gas cylinders and other products onto and off route trucks and trailers.
• Roll cylinders and operate a forklift to move compressed gas cylinders.
• Sort empty compressed gas cylinders by type.
• Check cylinder quantities, styles, and products, and assist with inventory.
• Review customer orders, pull items from full inventory, and load items onto trucks for delivery.
• Perform basic cylinder maintenance, including painting and labeling cylinders, and clean the work area.
• Handle cryogenic liquid cylinders and hazardous materials (HAZMAT).
• Assist with paperwork accompanying shipments.
• Complete routine and non-routine daily and weekly assignments.
• Complete documentation and forms in compliance with nexAir safety and quality requirements during the fill process.
• Ensure products are accurately and legibly labeled with current labels and lot numbers.
• Maintain a clean and orderly workplace through proper housekeeping procedures.
• Set a positive example by observing company policies and procedures.
• Report accidents, near misses, unsafe acts, and unsafe conditions, and obey safety rules.
• Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and flame-retardant (FR) clothing.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
