Cyber Data Analyst

Chronos Operations, LLCRedstone Arsenal, AL
Onsite

About The Position

The Cyber Data Analyst provides quantitative analysis, statistical evaluation, and risk modeling across defensive cyber operations and Risk Management Framework (RMF) lifecycles. Working in close collaboration with Cyber Operations Analysts, Data Engineers and Visualization Specialists, this role interprets complex security datasets—including vulnerability trends, authorization metrics, threat indicators, and control effectiveness—to deliver actionable risk assessments, prioritized remediation insights, and decision support for mission leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, Information Technology, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of professional experience conducting data analysis, risk evaluations, or reporting within an IT, cybersecurity, or compliance domain.
  • Active S. Government Secret clearancewith eligibility for TS/SCI.
  • Successfully pass background and drug screening
  • Proficiency in using analytical query languages and statistical tools (e.g., SQL, Python/Pandas, or Advanced Excel) for exploratory data analysis and trend modeling.
  • Strong ability to query databases, manipulate tabular datasets, apply statistical methods, and identify correlations or anomalies without relying on pre-built UI templates.
  • Proven ability to synthesize disparate data streams (e.g., operational scan data vs. compliance checklists) into coherent, defensible risk narratives.
  • Strong collaborative skills to interface effectively with data engineers (defining data schemas) and BI/visualization designers (defining metric logic).
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate risk priorities to technical teams and non-technical decision-makers.
  • Ability to work independently and within a distributed team, manage analytical priorities, and support mission deliverables.
  • Ability to meet minimum clearance requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience analyzing data from enterprise cyber tools and databases (e.g., eMASS, ACAS/Tenable, SIEM repositories, Xacta).
  • Familiarity with Splunk for querying machine telemetry and log analysis.
  • Familiarity with analytical, statistical, and enterprise platforms such as MATLAB, Power BI, Tableau, or Palantir Foundry.
  • Demonstrated experience with quantitative risk assessment methodologies (e.g., FAIR, CVSS scoring analysis).
  • Baseline cybersecurity certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CySA+, CGRC/CAP, or CASP+).
  • Familiarity working within Agile teams alongside specialized data engineering and design roles.

Responsibilities

  • Interrogate security datasets (e.g., vulnerability scans, asset inventories, audit findings, and threat feeds) to identify vulnerability aging, emerging risk trends, and critical asset exposures.
  • Develop analytical frameworks, scoring models, and risk formulas that quantify operational risk, mission impact, and compliance readiness.
  • Partner with Data Engineers to define log ingestion/schema requirements and collaborate with Data Visualization Specialists to conceptualize analytical reporting metrics and wireframe executive views.
  • Perform deep-dive statistical analyses and exploratory queries to answer targeted leadership inquiries regarding security anomalies, compliance bottlenecks, or operational readiness.
  • Translate complex data findings into clear, written risk summaries, briefing decks, and recommendations for ISSMs, system owners, and operational commanders.
  • Conduct ongoing trend and variance analysis on recurring security metrics to support RMF re-authorizations and continuous Authorization to Operate (cATO) initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Benefits

  • professional development plan
  • on-the-job learning experiences
  • formal development programs
  • well-being programs
