About The Position

The CVA (Cottonwood Virtual Academy) Middle School Teacher serves in a hybrid role supporting homeschool students as they grow in independence, structure, and academic readiness. The CVA teacher delivers standards-aligned instruction in core subjects (Math, English Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies) through a blend of live virtual classes and flex-paced coursework, maintaining clear pacing, assessment, and support for diverse learners. Additionally, the teacher partners with students and families to develop personalized learning plans, set goals, monitor progress, and provide feedback, supporting the development of strong academic and organizational skills while also fostering the growth of the whole child, including social-emotional development, well-being, and a sense of belonging. CVA Middle School balances structure with flexibility. Teachers provide ongoing support through office hours and extended learning opportunities, while also fostering connection through in-person events, field trips, and enrichment activities. This integrated role supports a program that blends personalized learning with relevant academic expectations, preparing students for long-term academic and real-world success in high school and beyond.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
• Valid California Multiple Subject Credential
• Required authorizations: EL Authorization
• Basic proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive) and virtual communication platforms (e.g., Zoom, Google Chat)
• AB 2534 Verification
• Background Clearance
• Tuberculosis Clearance (Risk Assessment or Skin Test)
• I-9 Verification (Appropriate US Work Permits as required)
• Complete Required Mandatory Trainings for School Employees

Nice To Haves

• Experience working at an independent study charter school
• Experience using educational technology platforms (e.g., LMS/SIS systems such as Pathways, Clever, or Google Classroom) to support instruction
• Experience providing instruction in a synchronous online setting
