Under the direction of the Associate Director of Homestudy, the CVA (Cottonwood Virtual Academy) Middle School Teacher plays a hybrid role supporting homeschool students in developing independence, structure, and academic readiness. This role involves delivering standards-aligned instruction in core subjects (Math, English Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies) through a combination of live virtual classes and flex-paced coursework. The teacher will maintain clear pacing, assessment, and support for diverse learners. A key aspect of the role is partnering with students and families to create personalized learning plans, set goals, monitor progress, and provide feedback. The teacher will foster the growth of the whole child, including social-emotional development, well-being, and a sense of belonging. The CVA Middle School program balances structure with flexibility, with teachers providing ongoing support through office hours and extended learning opportunities, while also fostering connection through in-person events, field trips, and enrichment activities. This integrated role prepares students for long-term academic and real-world success.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
Valid California Multiple Subject Credential
Valid EL Authorization
Basic proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive)
Basic proficiency in virtual communication platforms (e.g., Zoom, Google Chat)
AB 2534 Verification
Background Clearance
Tuberculosis Clearance (Risk Assessment or Skin Test)
I-9 Verification (Appropriate US Work Permits as required)
Complete Required Mandatory Trainings for School Employees

Experience working at an independent study charter school
Experience using educational technology platforms (e.g., LMS/SIS systems such as Pathways, Clever, or Google Classroom) to support instruction
