About The Position

The Prime Cutter Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining potato cutting equipment to ensure finished products consistently meet quality specifications and production requirements. This role plays a critical part in maximizing raw product utilization, maintaining equipment performance, and supporting safe, efficient manufacturing operations while adhering to food safety and sanitation standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and perform basic equipment maintenance.
  • Ability to use a computer to enter data, adjust machine settings, and generate reports.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety policies, operating instructions, maintenance manuals, and production procedures.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to successfully complete the Prime Cutter Operator Training and Certification Program.
  • Commitment to workplace safety, food safety, and sanitation standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a food manufacturing or potato processing environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate cutters and wet graders to achieve proper product cut uniformity and maximize raw product utilization.
  • Monitor product quality and make machine adjustments to ensure finished products meet specifications.
  • Sharpen, replace, and maintain cutter blades as needed to support efficient production.
  • Disassemble and reassemble equipment for cleaning, maintenance, and product changeovers.
  • Perform required sizing checks and document results to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and minor repairs on processing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and communicate production or quality concerns to leadership and support teams.
  • Clear line jams and respond quickly to minimize downtime and maintain operational efficiency.
  • Maintain housekeeping and sanitation standards in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Support food safety, employee safety, and continuous improvement initiatives throughout the production area.
