Cut and Trim Technician
About The Position
GE Vernova’s Onshore Wind business produces wind turbine blades from fiberglass and other materials. The Cut and Trim Technician works with a team in one of five production areas, performing cutting, grinding, gluing, and repair tasks in accordance with work instructions and health and safety requirements. The role includes work inside a blade in a confined space and requires wearing personal protective equipment, including a respirator. The position is scheduled Monday through Friday from 10:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. GE Vernova states that it offers competitive pay and benefits, regular pay progression, and a variety of departments and shifts. The U.S. base pay range is $22.88–$27.50, with geographic differentials in certain areas.
Requirements
- Ability to lift or carry objects or materials weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to push and pull heavy objects.
- Ability to stand for extended periods on concrete floors.
- Ability to work with hands for extended periods.
- Ability to operate basic hand tools, power tools, and heavy machinery.
- Ability to work individually and as part of a team.
- Ability to wear a respirator.
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma/GED or related experience.
- Previous manufacturing experience.
- Previous experience working with wind turbine blades or composites.
Responsibilities
- Perform cutting and grinding tasks according to work instructions.
- Wear required personal protective equipment and follow health and safety instructions regarding chemical use.
- Scuff laminate surfaces and remove excess flange and dried glass along blade edges.
- Apply glue to areas with glue voids.
- Perform repairs to defects inside the blade, including in confined spaces.
