About The Position
Customer Service/Sales associates provide fast, friendly service by proactively seeking customers, assessing their needs, and providing assistance. They learn about products using company tools and share product information to help customers complete entire projects. Associates learn to greet, qualify, recommend, and close customers in their department, as well as handle basic needs in adjacent departments. They maintain assigned areas so products are in stock and the areas remain clean, shop-able, and safe. Associates help provide a safe working and shopping environment by following safety policies and standards, completing required safety training, correcting hazards and unsafe conditions promptly or reporting them to the Manager on Duty, and working safely to avoid endangering themselves and others. They cooperate with their Department Supervisor and associates in their own and other departments. Store departments may include Building Materials, Décor, Electrical, Flooring, Garden, Hardware, Kitchen & Bath, Lumber, Millwork, Paint, Plumbing, and Tool Rental. Position types may include Department Sales, Lead Generator, Pro Account Sales, Sales Specialist, Special Services, and Customer Order Specialist.
Responsibilities
- Proactively seek customers, assess their needs, and provide assistance.
- Learn about products using company tools and provide information to help customers sell or complete an entire project.
- Greet, qualify, recommend products or services to, and close customers in the assigned department.
- Handle basic customer needs in adjacent departments.
- Maintain the in-stock condition of assigned areas and keep them clean, shop-able, and safe.
- Follow safety policies and standards and complete specified safety training.
- Immediately correct hazards and unsafe conditions or report them to the Manager on Duty.
- Work safely to avoid endangering oneself, coworkers, vendors, or customers.
- Cooperate with the Department Supervisor and associates in the assigned and other departments.
