About The Position

U-Haul is seeking a friendly, motivated Customer Service Representative to help customers at its Birmingham, Alabama center. The role combines customer service with equipment inspection and maintenance, rental dispatch and returns, and other hands-on tasks. Representatives use current technology to manage equipment and inventory, educate customers about products and services, and help ensure customers have what they need for their journeys. On-the-job education is provided, including ongoing training through U-Haul University. U-Haul offers paid working interviews, a hiring bonus, and a certification completion bonus. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and must not require employer sponsorship. The position is subject to U-Haul’s stated nicotine-use hiring policy in Alabama.

Requirements

Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain a good driving record.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and not require employer sponsorship.

Responsibilities

Assist customers inside and outside a U-Haul center with U-Haul products and services.
Use smartphone-based U-Scan technology to manage rentals and inventory.
Move and hook up U-Haul trucks and trailers.
Clean and inspect equipment on the lot, including checking fluid levels.
Answer customer questions and educate customers about products and services.
Prepare rental invoices and accept equipment returned from rentals.
Install hitches and trailer wiring.
Fill propane; certification is offered by U-Haul after employment.
Drive a forklift; certification is offered by U-Haul after employment.
Participate in ongoing education through U-Haul University.
Perform other duties as assigned.
