About The Position

This role involves performing duties associated with running a retail store, including customer service, sales, stocking, cleaning, and inventory management. The representative will operate the store according to established procedures, ensuring excellent customer service and adherence to safety and security protocols. This is a casual, on-site position.

Requirements

Must be fluent in English.
Must be flexible of schedule (days/evenings and weekends) and cannot switch to Monday to Friday day shift.
Must provide a valid Criminal Records Check.

Nice To Haves

Providing three (3) business references is an asset. Valid references must be a direct supervisor who is familiar with the applicant’s work.
Having a valid BC Driver’s License is an asset. Class 7N may be considered.

Responsibilities

Perform duties associated with running the retail store, including taking payments, providing excellent customer service, cleaning, stocking shelves, and other requested duties.
Operate the store according to procedure, including opening and closing the shop, processing payments, operating the POS system and credit card terminal.
Sell merchandise including coffee and other food items, and tax-exempt tobacco and gasoline, ensuring compliance with governmental regulations.
Interact with the public, providing excellent service, staying calm and courteous with difficult clients, and quoting policy.
Answer the phone in a professional and courteous manner.
Adhere to customer service standards, including being helpful to fellow employees and the public, going the extra mile to solve customer problems, and presenting a professional image.
Stock shelves, ensure displays are tidy and organized, and manage merchandise supply.
Ensure perishable products are rotated and refrigerated.
Clean the shop, including emptying garbage, cleaning countertops and washrooms, dusting, and maintaining tidiness.
Complete duties associated with inventory, including counting and rotating stock, checking in shipments for accuracy, and pricing merchandise.
Provide gas inventory measurements based on operational needs.
Adhere to workplace health and safety policies, safe work practices, and procedures.
Organize and de-clutter work areas to maintain a safe workspace.
Report immediately all unsafe conditions, vandalism, and security issues to the supervisor.
Report promptly all injuries to the supervisor or first aid attendant and obtain required medical attention.
Cooperate in accident investigations.
Inform the supervisor of any medication or medical condition that may cause impairment.
Report working sober (free from alcohol or drugs).
Wear personal protective equipment if required and ensure it is in good condition.
Offer recommendations to improve workplace safety.
Participate as part of the Retail Operations team, contributing to discussions and providing updates.
Co-operatively learn new techniques and incorporate them into daily accountabilities.
Attend and contribute at meetings requested by management.
Perform other duties as required.
