Customer Service Representative
About The Position
U-Haul is hiring a friendly, dependable, and motivated Customer Service Representative for a part-time role at its Mansfield, Ohio location. The position offers a starting pay of $15 per hour and flexible scheduling. No experience is necessary; paid, hands-on training is provided. Applicants may complete up to two paid trial shifts, paid in cash upon completion. New team members may also earn a $100 cash hiring bonus and an additional $300 cash bonus after completing the U-Haul Equipment & Verification Training Program, subject to applicable requirements. This is an active, hands-on retail position serving customers across the showroom, storage facility, and outdoor property. Team members assist with truck and trailer rentals, self-storage, moving supplies, propane, and other U-Haul products and services, while helping keep the location operating smoothly. Work includes regular movement between indoor and outdoor areas, sometimes in varying weather conditions and around rental equipment. Appropriate safety procedures and protective equipment are used when required. U-Haul offers career stability and advancement opportunities, along with a variety of benefits and programs. Requirements
- Valid driver's license and ability to maintain a clean driving record.
- Friendly and dependable, and comfortable working directly with customers.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Willingness to work indoors and outdoors in a hands-on retail environment.
- Ability to work as part of a team and remain productive in a fast-paced environment.
- Availability to work weekends and holidays as needed.
- Ability to perform regular physical activity, including extended standing and walking, bending, reaching, kneeling, crouching, and working at varying heights.
- Ability to frequently enter and exit trucks and other rental equipment, climb steps, and occasionally use ladders.
- Ability to handle equipment and supplies and lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring employer sponsorship.
Responsibilities
- Provide friendly, hands-on customer service throughout the U-Haul location.
- Assist customers with truck and trailer rentals, self-storage, moving supplies, propane, and other U-Haul products and services.
- Dispatch and return rental equipment using U-Haul technology and mobile devices.
- Inspect, clean, and prepare trucks, trailers, and other rental equipment for customers.
- Assist self-storage customers with unit rentals, payments, questions, and tours of available storage units.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming showroom, storage facility, and property.
- Stock and organize boxes, moving supplies, and other retail merchandise.
- Perform routine property upkeep, cleaning, and minor maintenance as needed.
- Answer phone calls and assist current and prospective customers with questions and reservations.
- Work as part of the store team and assist with other day-to-day operations as needed.
- Participate in ongoing training and development through U-Haul University.
