About The Position

At Zamzows, the Freight & Customer Service Clerk helps maintain a clean, organized, welcoming retail environment while providing friendly, knowledgeable service. The role combines store and warehouse operations, customer assistance, equipment operation, and general maintenance. The schedule stated for this part-time position is Friday through Monday, approximately 22 hours per week; weekend availability is required. Specific days and hours may vary and may include evenings. The role is based in a retail setting and involves regular exposure to dirt, live animals, plants, chemicals, odors, dust, and temperature fluctuations. Work takes place indoors and outdoors, including in hot and cold weather. It is physically active and involves frequent lifting, stacking, pushing, pulling, bending, and walking for long periods. Lifting objects over 50 pounds, using pallet jacks and tractors, and occasionally using ladders may be required.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old.
Comfortable initiating conversations and engaging with customers.
Able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends.
Reliable and punctual, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Able to lift 50 pounds or more multiple times per shift.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Able to perform frequent lifting, stacking, pushing, pulling, bending, and walking for long periods.
May be required to operate pallet jacks and tractors and occasionally use ladders.

Nice To Haves

One or more years of retail or cashiering experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

Restock shelves and keep displays clean, organized, and appealing.
Keep the store warehouse neat, organized, and well-maintained.
Assist with product counts to support ordering and inventory accuracy.
Set up and take down merchandise displays as needed.
Fill propane tanks for customers using appropriate personal protective equipment and safety procedures.
Operate a tractor to unload shipments and load bulk products into customers’ vehicles.
Maintain the cleanliness of the store and surrounding property, including sweeping, trash removal, and weed pulling.
Greet customers warmly and create a welcoming, helpful environment.
Answer product questions and share product knowledge to help customers make informed choices.
Assist customers with carry-outs and support a positive shopping experience.
Follow safety procedures and use proper safety equipment.
Immediately report safety concerns, hazards, or suspicious activity.
Follow company guidelines and comply with local, state, and federal laws.
Support the team and assist wherever needed.
