About The Position

Olympia Chimney & Venting is seeking a skilled, dependable, and creative problem-solver to package custom-manufactured specialty metal venting products. The role determines suitable packaging for each product and designs and builds custom cardboard boxes and wooden crates to protect products for shipment. It uses hands-on measuring, packing, woodworking, inspection, documentation, and inventory skills in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The position is based at 450 Centerpoint Blvd, Pittston, PA 18640. It is full-time, first shift, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. This is an active, hands-on role with frequent lifting and movement of materials weighing over 50 pounds and exposure to moving mechanical equipment, vibration, fumes, airborne particles, and varying temperatures. Travel is not required.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Ability to read and write English and follow verbal instructions.
Ability to read a tape measure and convert fractions to decimals.
Basic woodworking abilities and experience using saws, nail guns, or similar tools.
Problem-solving ability and willingness to determine effective ways to complete tasks.
Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
Dependability, reliability, and commitment to completing work on time.
Commitment to customer expectations and quality results.
Comfort using computers to complete production documentation.

Responsibilities

Determine the best packaging solution for each custom-manufactured product.
Design, measure, and build custom-sized cardboard boxes and wooden crates.
Assemble, line, and pad packaging using hand tools to protect products during shipment.
Set up and operate cardboard cutting equipment.
Use basic woodworking tools, including saws and nail guns, to construct protective crates.
Measure, weigh, and count products and materials accurately.
Read and interpret customer orders and packing instructions, including applying tape-measure skills and converting fractions to decimals.
Inspect products, packaging materials, and finished containers to ensure specifications are met.
Identify and remove defective or completed products and materials as appropriate.
Pack products according to specific instructions and customer requirements.
Mark, seal, and label boxes, crates, and containers accurately.
Load materials and products into packaging equipment.
Record product, order, and packaging information using required forms and systems.
Use computer equipment to complete and close out work orders.
Maintain an organized, clean, and safe workspace.
Monitor inventory levels and order packaging supplies when needed.
Help train new packing team members when assigned.
Meet and exceed production and quality goals.
Communicate effectively with teammates and supervisors.
Take on additional responsibilities as production needs require.
