About The Position

This position is responsible for performing a variety of skilled and unskilled tasks in the custodial care and maintenance of County buildings. The work is typically performed both indoors and outdoors on building grounds. This is a full-time, 40-hour position on the night shift.

Requirements

Six months of custodial experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Valid State of Georgia driver's license.
Knowledge of equipment, materials, and supplies used in building and ground maintenance, including equipment and supplies used for minor repairs.
Knowledge of proper and safe building-maintenance techniques, first aid, and applicable safety precautions.
Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to a work schedule.
Ability to walk and stand for long periods and maintain continuous physical effort throughout the shift.
Ability to communicate orally and in writing and to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely and establish effective working relationships.
Ability to perform moderate to heavy manual labor, including frequent bending and walking and lifting objects weighing more than 40 pounds.

Responsibilities

Change light bulbs and fluorescent tubes.
Sweep, vacuum, mop, dust, shampoo, steam clean, strip, wax, polish, and buff floors, carpets, furniture, and related surfaces.
Empty trash and garbage and reline cans.
Clean and sanitize restrooms, replenish supplies, clean spills, and clean drinking fountains, mirrors, tables, walls, fixtures, blinds, and light fixtures.
Wash windows, walls, and metal and woodwork.
Clean rain gutters and sweep roofs and sidewalks.
Pick up litter around buildings and grounds.
Open and close facilities and lock and unlock them as needed.
Distribute maintenance supplies.
Drive a vehicle to various County buildings to perform custodial work.
Perform other related duties as required by proper authority.
