About The Position

The Custodian cleans and maintains assigned areas, including restrooms, floors, furniture, glass, and other surfaces. The position also secures the area before leaving and assists with room and event setups by moving and arranging equipment. The Custodian follows safety precautions when using chemicals and supports a welcoming, respectful environment for students, faculty, and college employees.

Requirements

• High school graduate or GED.
• One year of successful experience in the custodial area.

Responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect sinks, toilets, and trash receptacles, and mop restroom floors.
• Clean and refill toilet paper and paper towel dispensers.
• Clean mirrors, handrails, floors, glass doors, windows, window ledges, file cabinets, blinds, shelves, tables, chairs, dry-erase boards, ceilings, diffusers, and air ducts.
• Vacuum, empty trash cans, and replace liners.
• Ensure doors are locked and lights are turned off before leaving the assigned area.
• Transport tables and chairs for classroom or area setups and return them to storage after events.
• Install floor coverings in the gym; pull out bleachers; set up the stage, podium, and sporting equipment.
• Understand and observe safety precautions when using chemicals.
• Put out wet-floor signs when appropriate and remove them once floors are dry.
• Support and promote a sense of belonging for students, faculty, and college employees.
• Support the College’s policies and programming related to access, fair employment, and equal opportunities.
