About The Position

The Custodian performs custodial duties to maintain a safe and clean facility, including interior areas and exterior grounds. This is a part-time, non-exempt position with locations in White Plains, Yonkers, and Mt. Vernon. The role includes cleaning common and office areas, preparing vacant units for re-occupancy, arranging furniture, replacing light bulbs, and assisting with minor maintenance and building repairs. Some weekend and/or evening hours are required.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Previous experience or work history demonstrating the ability and desire to learn building custodial services.
Experience with buffing and other cleaning equipment.
Ability to communicate appropriately with peers and management.
Ability to exhibit patience and understanding toward the client population served.
Availability for some weekend and/or evening hours.

Responsibilities

Complete scheduled custodial duties in accordance with the custodian cleaning checklist.
Clean and maintain exterior grounds as scheduled and as needed based on weather.
Clean floors, hallways, and common areas, including vacuuming, buffing, and waxing floors.
Prepare vacant units for re-occupancy as scheduled.
Assemble and arrange furniture as needed.
Assist with room turnovers; dust and polish furniture.
Clean and maintain office areas.
Check and replace interior and exterior light bulbs.
Assist with minor maintenance and building repairs.
Perform other duties as assigned.
