About The Position

The Custodian performs custodial duties to maintain a safe and clean facility, including the interior and exterior grounds of a 200-bed men’s homeless shelter. The role follows a scheduled cleaning checklist and includes cleaning floors, common areas, bathrooms, kitchen, laundry room, lobby, offices, parking lot, sidewalk, and outdoor property. The Custodian also maintains furniture and lighting and assists with minor maintenance and building repairs as needed. Some weekend and/or evening hours are required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Previous experience or work history demonstrating the ability and desire to learn building custodial services.
• Experience with buffing and other cleaning equipment is required.
• Ability to communicate appropriately with peers and management.
• Patience and understanding toward the client population being served.

Responsibilities

• Complete scheduled custodial duties in accordance with the custodian cleaning checklist.
• Clean floors, hallways, and common areas, including vacuuming, buffing, and waxing floors.
• Clean bathrooms, kitchen, laundry room, lobby, and offices.
• Assemble, arrange, and clean furniture as needed.
• Clean and maintain the parking lot, sidewalk, and outdoor property as needed.
• Clean and maintain office areas.
• Check and replace interior and exterior light bulbs.
• Assist with minor maintenance and building repairs as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
