About The Position

The City of Burlington is hiring a part-time morning Custodian at the Kernodle Senior Center, which offers activities for adults ages 55 and over. The position is responsible for keeping indoor and outdoor facilities clean and safe in appearance. The employee may also assist the Park Maintenance team with light maintenance duties at the facility.

Requirements

• Strong communication skills.
• Creativity and resourcefulness in solving problems.
• Comfort with cleaning public restrooms and handling trash disposal.
• Willingness to work occasional nights and weekends as needed.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Ability to perform physical tasks including balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, pushing, pulling, grasping, and repetitive motions.
• Visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of assigned work.

Responsibilities

• Clean and stock restroom facilities.
• Sweep floors daily and operate floor buffer or scrubber machines.
• Wipe down surfaces to remove dust and debris.
• Arrange tables and chairs for events and activities.
• Pick up loose trash inside and outside and service outdoor trash receptacles using a utility vehicle or golf cart.
• Blow or sweep sidewalks.
• Inventory and organize supplies as needed.
• Assist with other assigned maintenance and custodial duties.
