About The Position

The Custodian performs custodial duties, including cleaning restrooms, lounges, offices, classrooms, and corridors according to departmental standard operating procedures. The role requires flexibility, teamwork, and willingness to accept guidance and directives from the Custodial Supervisor and/or Director of Operations. This is a full-time, second-shift position, generally scheduled from 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. with a 30-minute lunch break. A $0.25 shift differential applies to time worked. Hours may vary according to departmental needs, with occasional weekend coverage. The position is considered essential staff; if the University closes, essential staff are expected to report to work as usual.

Requirements

High school diploma.
Driver’s license.
Basic communication skills.
Basic computer skills.
Ability to work flexibly and as part of a team, and to accept guidance and directives.

Ability to demonstrate safety responsibility and wear required personal protective equipment.
Ability to walk, stand, bend, reach, climb a ladder, and clear snow and ice when needed.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and operate standard custodial equipment.

Responsibilities

Clean, stock, and sanitize assigned areas using established practices and procedures.
Use authorized cleaning supplies and equipment to maintain clean and professional building interiors.
Follow safety policies and help maintain a safe work environment.
Secure and lock assigned areas.
Assist with event setup and teardown.
Keep assigned equipment clean and report needed repairs.
Assist with cleaning spills.
Change light bulbs throughout campus as needed.
Observe and report repair needs throughout campus.
Perform other duties as assigned.
