About The Position

The Custodian cleans the academy facility as directed by the School Leader or another designated supervisor. Duties may cover classrooms, common areas, offices, restrooms, athletic facilities, and indoor or outdoor areas of the school building and grounds. The role includes reporting facility safety or health concerns, correcting potentially unsafe situations when possible, following universal precautions and bloodborne pathogen procedures, and potentially ordering or purchasing custodial supplies while properly documenting expenditures and handling academy funds. The Custodian works cooperatively with other staff and may coordinate work with the facility landlord.

Requirements

• Basic reading, writing, and speaking skills to understand and carry out supervisory instructions and read and understand health and safety information, such as Material Safety Data Sheets.
• Ability to organize work to meet daily deadlines.
• Able to perform custodial duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and removing trash.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Able to bend and twist frequently throughout the workday.
• May need to climb stairs, depending on the facility.

Responsibilities

• Clean academy facilities as directed by the School Leader or another designated supervisor, including classrooms, common areas, offices, restrooms, athletic facilities, and indoor or outdoor areas.
• Report facility-related safety or health concerns to the School Leader and, when possible, immediately correct potentially unsafe situations.
• Follow established universal precautions, including bloodborne pathogen procedures.
• May order or purchase cleaning materials and other custodial supplies, document expenditures properly, and handle academy funds according to procedure.
• Work cooperatively with other staff members to complete assignments.
• May coordinate work with the facility landlord.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
