About The Position
This position is responsible for performing a variety of cleaning and maintenance tasks to ensure that school facilities are kept in a sanitary, safe, and attractive condition. The Custodian will perform duties such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, polishing, and sanitizing surfaces. They will also be responsible for emptying trash receptacles, cleaning restrooms, and maintaining the cleanliness of common areas. Additionally, the Custodian may be required to perform minor repairs, set up and take down furniture for events, and assist with groundskeeping tasks as needed. This role requires attention to detail and the ability to work independently to maintain a high standard of cleanliness throughout the school.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Previous custodial or janitorial experience preferred.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Must pass a background check.

- Basic knowledge of building maintenance and repair.
Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of cleaning and maintenance tasks to ensure school facilities are kept in a sanitary, safe, and attractive condition.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and polish floors and surfaces.
- Sanitize restrooms, kitchens, and other facilities.
- Empty trash receptacles and replace liners.
- Clean windows, doors, and walls.
- Maintain the cleanliness of common areas, including hallways, lounges, and cafeterias.
- Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks as needed.
- Set up and take down furniture for school events and activities.
- Assist with groundskeeping tasks, such as lawn care and snow removal, as required.
- Report any maintenance issues or safety concerns to the supervisor.
- Follow all safety regulations and procedures.
- Operate and maintain cleaning equipment and supplies.
