About The Position

The Custodian is responsible for the daily care, cleaning, and upkeep of the Head Start Center to ensure that the facility remains clean, safe, and sanitary. The role also includes in-house maintenance and general handyman tasks as needed. The posting describes this as a part-time position and lists two schedules: 7:00 a.m. to 12:36 p.m., totaling 28 hours per week, and Monday to Friday, 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Ability to read and write English.
Ability to lift 50 lb.
Employment physical and TB test.
Current First Aid and CPR certification.

Responsibilities

Clean and disinfect bathrooms, including fixtures and walls, daily and as necessary.
Replenish tissue and paper towel dispensers daily.
Empty trash from classrooms, offices, the kitchen, and other areas daily.
Clean inside windows monthly and outside windows twice during the program year.
Dust mop, wet mop, and/or vacuum all floors daily.
Strip and/or wax hard-surface floors once per season or as needed.
Steam clean carpeted areas once per season or as needed.
Order custodial supplies with approval of the Area Director.
Dust and/or remove cobwebs from vertical and horizontal surfaces weekly.
Replace light bulbs as needed.
Help keep the Center grounds picked up and free of trash.
Perform minor facility repairs and assist with facility maintenance.
Respond to children and individuals as appropriate.
Carry out other duties assigned and appropriate to the position.
